The village where the ceremonial walk of King Taejo Wang Geon of Goryeo Dynasty stopped

• Mt. Koebang located at Opo 2-ri, Ganggu-myeon, is called 'Mt. Navi' or 'Mt. Gaebang'. The name, 'Mt. Koebang', means that King Taejo Wang Geon of Goryeo Dynasty hung a tablet(榜) and stayed overnight at this mountain when he was passing by Yeongdeok.

• The Byeongsan battle(AD 929) in Andong was the fierce and desperate battle that had the fate of King Taejo Wang Geon of Goryeo Dynasty -- who unified the later three countries and established the Goryeo Dynasty -- at stake. After the 2-month battle, King Wang Geon ascended to the position of leader who unified the later three countries. In this battle, the residents of North Gyeongsangbuk-do made concerted efforts and helped Wang Geon win the war. Particularly, the residents of Yeongdeok played decisive role in the triumph of Wang Geon in the war. For that reason, King Taejo Wang Geon stopped at Yeonghae and Yeongdeok on his ceremonial walk to Gyeongju in 931, one year after the war ended, to give great comfort to the residents of Yeonghae and Yeongdeok.

• At this time, Wang Geon passed by Yeonghae and Jabuteojae in Yeongdeok before reaching the Mt. Koebang. This fact is confirmed by the records of Yeonghae-dohobu of Sinjeung Donggukyeojiseungram published in 1530.
