Daetan-ri

Daetan-ri

Originally, it was a part of Dong-myeon, Yeongdeok-hyeon, and called Haeyeowul, Hawol or Daran because it was located beside the large rapids at the sea.
The first record of Daetan-ri is found in 'Gyeongsang-do Sokchan Jiriji' published in 1469 which indicates Daetan-ri as Baektanpo or Daetanpo.
Meanwhile, Daetan-ri can be found in Population Census published in 1789.
Daetan-ri was incorporated into Obo-myeon under the name of Daetan-dong under the Administrative district rearrangement of 1914, and became part of Yeongdeok-myeon on April 1, 1934 due to the changes in administrative districts, and currently, it belongs to Yeongdeok-eup.
